Yeti: Serpentine Green Sandblasted Bent Dublin Churchwarden (976) Tobacco Pipe
Product Number: 002-660-0221
Micah Cryder of Yeti Pipes is an incredibly talented artisan, one of my favorites in fact, as he injects each of his pipes with a degree of whimsy and jocularity that reflects his own palpable passion for the craft, all while imbuing them with reverence toward his inspirations. Cryder is especially talented at carving facets, imbuing his works with complex geometry in a variety of ways, with this bent Dublin Churchwarden being one such pipe. Churchwarden pipes are rarities from Yeti's workshop, making this piece quite the desirable one for collectors of his work, and it's equipped with a full-sized bowl for leisurely smoking sessions. This bowl stands atop a firm heel, one that's pointed toward the fore and flattens out through the aft side, and this sharp, spur-like heel acts as the center of the visual weight in profile. From this heel, the bowl's thick walls expand with a measured flare, creating an expressive, blooming look that's capped with a broad, plateau-crowned rim and a polished chamfer into the chamber. Out back, the wide transition gives way to a short, lifted shank paired to a long stem of demurely curved black vulcanite: the combination taking on a consistent taper to the button. Here, Cryder has subtly stylized the shank and stem, paneling the top half of the duo with three firm facets that extend through their entire length and remain consistent, even through their taper to the button. Additionally, the flat portion of the heel allows this pipe to rest on a flat surface when supported by the stem, enhancing its practicality. This pipe has been finished in one of Yeti's signature dressings: the Serpentine sandblast. The entirety of the stummel features a crisp, grain-defining sandblast, and it's been stained a deep, rich, forest green, unveiling dense stacks of ring grain flowing down the bowl while affording this pipe a contemporary palette.
