Adam Davidson: Sandblasted Fig with Bakelite
Product Number: 002-437-0074
Another of Adam's demonstration pieces from the Pipe Making Seminar by the Sea, held in February by Jeff Gracick and co-instructed by Adam, this Adam Davidson signature Fig was used to demonstrate, you guessed it, developing signature shapes. Much like his Fig, a signature shape needs to not only be visually appealing and possessing of good smoking characteristics, it needs to be reproduce-able, scalable, be able to be produced in multiple, if not all, finishes, and be fitted with a variety of stem types.
To these ends Adam has given us Fig with an army mount and a bakelite stem — a material he has only used twice in nine years. The Acorn-like bowl is canted forward, and the waistline lowered ever so slightly from past examples, while the shank has been has been shortened to create more stubby proportions.
