Adam Davidson: Partially Sandblasted Disk Tobacco Pipe
Product Number: 002-437-0098
The Disk is a shape idea Adam has experimented a good deal with; we've seen them with the flattened bowl oriented side-to-side, length-wise, and asymmetrically. With this one he went for a side-to-side bowl orientation, giving it a good cant as well and working the soft lines of the front and rear faces into a supple silhouette. Getting down to more detailed aspects, one of the most subtle features here is that the transition and shank are, very slightly, actually oval, discretely echoing and better complementing the dramatic compression of form up front. Harder to miss is, of course, that polished and contrast-stained crescent sweeping the flanks and rim, a touch that both let Adam show off some flame grain, and that makes for a much livelier look overall.
