Adam Davidson: Partially Sandblasted Rhodesian with Silver Tobacco Pipe

Product Number: 002-437-0120

On the whole, I'm more fond of petite pieces, and they're well-represented in my collection. Oftentimes, chubbier numbers can just seem too overt in their corpulence, sacrificing manageability in hand for outright substance. That being said, Adam's heartier pieces seem to always show just as strong a consideration for ergonomics as they do for aesthetics, making for smokers that truly epitomize what it means to be a comfort pipe.

With this Calabash-esque Rhodesian, Adam's achieved that balance through use of a forthright, poised Rhodesian bowl, sporting a foregone beadline in favor of a crisp ridge wrapping the equator. From there, the eye travels to either the bulbous, inflated rim framing a marvelous presentation of birdseye, or to the smartly-tapering lower bowl, where it should come to rest at a gently-downturned saddle stem and a silver accent of the acutely slender variety. Adam's silverwork is no joke, and to fashion a band as ornate and visually delicate as this is not an easy feat, but of course, he pulled it off with aplomb.
