Adam Davidson: Sandblasted Bent Egg Tobacco Pipe
Product Number: 002-437-0161
While this bent Egg from Adam Davidson wears its Danish influence on its sleeve, as it possesses the supple curves, soft lines, and organic character often found in that school of design, it exudes a palpable muscularity that's distinctly American. The bowl, as curvaceous and voluptuous as it is, is stout and brawny in its construction, with thick walls that fill the hand quite nicely. The crisp ridgelines that flank either side of the oval shank reinforce the stalwart shaping and appearance of the pipe, even as the pronounced lines juxtapose against the rounded features of the bowl. The gently lifted heel hoists the bowl forward and upwards, imbuing the shape with a sense of momentum that's accentuated by the fore-favoring of the gently chamfered rim. The heel blends seamlessly with the undercurve of the stummel and draws the eye to the accelerated trajectory of the lightly bent shank-and-stem arrangement, which terminates at a saddle mouthpiece of jet-black vulcanite. It's handsomely presented in a crisp, plum-hued sandblast, which accentuates the natural grain orientation of the briar and provides a pleasing texture for the fingers to explore.
