One of the most intriguing aspects of owning a meerschaum pipe is observing how it darkens with age and smoking. Unfortunately that process can be a bit uneven, so to ensure a consistent patina, coloring bowls are utilized by fitting the cork end into the bowl, effectively creating a seal and making certain the smoke and color is distributed evenly. This particular coloring bowl displays a subtle flare toward the smooth, inflated rim and showcases lovely latticework carving — a finish commonly seen on meerschaum pipes.
