J. Alan: Sandblasted Nautical Bent Dublin (1192) Tobacco Pipe
Product Number: 002-376-0204
My first thought regarding this J. Alan bent Dublin was "fiery". As thoughts go, it was a pretty short one, and one that might seem a bit odd given that this is a sandblasted pipe, therefore not one making flame grain its main show. Nonetheless, the strong contrast, the sweeping style, and the way the grain plays out towards the latter half of the shank just have this sort of snapping flame look to my eye, as if the briar were meant to evoke an image of it trailing fire through the air, like a Dublin-shaped meteorite. A bit of a whimsical perspective I suppose, especially given that this is one of Jeff's Nautical themed designs.
