Slightly more elongated and streamlined than many Fugu renditions of the Blowfish we've come across, this piece from Jeff Gracik takes a more minimalist approach to the often complicated design — keeping the silhouette clean and continuous, while still playing with Tokutomi-style asymmetry in the cross-section. Fitting to that simpler approach, Jeff's finished either flank in an extra dark, low-profile sandblast, bringing out a lovely bit of texture and grain without compromising the shape's clean, defining lines. The slender paneled column that makes up the cross-section, however, has been polished smooth and lent a gorgeous contrast stain, highlighting an impressive display of crossgrain running from the transition, across the rim, and all along the underside of the bowl.
