J. Alan: Sandblasted Bent Egg with Ivorite (1632)
Product Number: 002-376-0314
Sinuous, organic and svelte, this remarkable bent Egg from Jeff Gracik features a medium-profile sandblast with horizontal growth rings circling the bowl. All black, save for the Ivorite ring at the end of the shank and the smooth, scalloped rim, it presents a refined palette worthy of smoking in a tuxedo at the palace. One of the coolest things about this shape is the way it's pinched at the transition, with the shank expanding toward the mouthpiece and the bowl expanding to the waistline as if the transition is a hinge separating two equal parts. The stem is everything you expect from Jeff, with a perfectly shaped and smoothed slot in the thin, saddle bit. The rim of this piece is smooth, and further interesting because of the subtle "V" curve of the top of the pipe. There's certainly lots of Danish influence apparent in Jeff's work, and he chooses only the best techniques to emulate and modify with his own unique artistry.- Chuck Stanion
