J. Alan: Sandblasted Billiard with Bamboo (1665)

Product Number: 002-376-0325

While Jeff Gracik's innovative complexity of design garners considerable attention in the pipe world, his traditional renditions are especially admired for their modern, stylistic modifications and subdued elegance. This refined Billiard reflects Jeff's respect for the Danish tradition of pipe making while retaining his own distinct style.

It's a conveniently sized pipe at just under five-and-a-half inches, and its bowl is full sized for more than adequate smoking time. That bowl maintains visual precedence with a sturdy heel, proportionally wide girth, low waistline, and subtle taper to the rim, which is softly inflated with gentle curvature and left smooth for contrast. The stain of the sandblast is dark, illuminating the cross-grain orientation of the bowl and differentiating the horizontal tendrils and rich birdseye for limitless visual gratification. The shank is quite trim and abrupt, and joined to a dark, two-knuckle length of black bamboo, followed by an offset saddle mouthpiece, resulting in a slender and lithe impression and contributing to the light weight of this Billiard, which reflects such elevated design and execution as to satisfy the most fastidious of collectors.
