J. Alan: Sandblasted Apple with Horn (2149) Tobacco Pipe

Product Number: 002-376-0419

J. Alan pipes are carved by Jeff Gracik, with each piece by the San Diego-based artisan exuding its own unique character. Drawing inspiration from Danish and American masters alike, Gracik's shaping style often embodies graceful curves and clean line work within stocky, muscular proportions, with this piece being an excellent example of his craftsmanship. Measuring just over five inches in length, this Apple boasts plenty of substance within a compact form factor, featuring a plump, spherical bowl that contours well to the hand as its supple walls rise from the broad heel to the flat rim. Said bowl takes on a gentle forward cant, one that lends a touch of momentum to the composition. Out back, a thick, round shank emerges from a subtly defined transition and meets a sleek saddle stem of jet-black vulcanite, the latter of which accentuates this pipe's trim profile. Adorning the junction is a fetching horn accent, its rounded figure further softening the design. The horn's dark complexion handsomely complements the stummel, whose rich, hickory-hued sandblast offers plenty of crisp texture for the fingers to admire, with the rim finished smooth for a touch of contrast.
