Alexander Hasty: Sandblasted Billiard with Boxwood Tobacco Pipe

Alexander Hasty is an American pipe artisan who produces pipes often inspired by Danish shaping conventions and merged with his own unique style. This pocket-friendly straight Billiard is a great example of both, with a bowl that tapers from a well-rounded heel, is imbued cheeking at the transition, and is paired to a stout, rounded shank.

A crisp tanblast accentuates the briar's cross-grain orientation, with horizontal striations on the fore and blasted birdseye on the bowl's flanks, offering plenty of detail to admire with both eye and fingertips. A thin black ring of vulcanite sets off the lighter domed boxwood accent that graces the shank end, and one of Hasty's precisely hand-cut vulcanite saddle stems extends out back in a promise of comfortable smoking sessions.
