Ardor: Spirale Bent Apple
Product Number: 002-004-1844
Sporting a very distinct orange-peel pattern, or should I say "Apple-peel" pattern, this pipe presents us with a very striking aesthetic that's altogether not uncommon in the world of pipes. To achieve this tornado effect, pipe carvers use different methods like, for instance, Paolo Becker, who usually executes his as a series of concentric, regularly diminished bevels, or Erik Nording who digs in deep, and leaves the lines thin, achieving a very tribal aesthetic. The Rovera family, on the other hand, create one grove and then spiral it down, leaving plump ringlets. The finished product is light and amusing, a feeling Ardor captures well.
