Ardor: Goccia Fantasy Bent Apple with Silver and Zebrawood
Ardor is point blank, without a doubt, among the most imaginative and eclectic carvers in the world; Dorelio Rovera and his son Damiano are the equivalent of what would happen if Willy Wonka and Frank Zappa decided to go into pipe making together. Now, this may seem like a recipe for disaster to some, but take a look at their archive. Ardor's wholly original designs are so complicated, not many artisans would even dream of taking a chance on botching such quality briar and risking the expense, but with the Roveras at the helm, they not only execute pipes with confounding accuracy and exquisite craftsmanship, but even find room for wonderful nuances. This Goccia Fantasy is a great example of their relentless attention to detail; a hybridized bent Apple, the 'melted-wax carving' faintly materializes a Rhodesian shape in the bevel forming around its rim. Another delightful feature is the accent of zebrawood which connects to a sterling silver inlaid acrylic stem - stylistically a signature move for Ardor.
