Ardor: Goccia Hawkbill
Product Number: 002-004-2641
Though originally an old French shape, the Hawkbill has become almost synonymous with the Italian school in recent years, with plenty of workshops and artisans all putting their own spin on the unique form. That's exactly what we see here in this rendition from the Roveras of Ardor; the heel is elongated slightly, emphasizing the long, aquiline curve of the shank and stem, while the bowl itself is a touch taller and more Egg-like than many interpretations we've seen. The Goccia finish creates a melting wax look around the bowl, as smooth streaks of briar are seen dripping all around the stummel's dark rustication. It's a fascinating rendition that's bound to stand out in anyone's collection.- Andrew Wike
