Ardor: Urano Elephant's Foot Tobacco Pipe
Product Number: 002-004-3343
Ardor's Elephant's Foot renditions are almost always striking, uniquely stylized imaginings of the shape pioneered by Swedish artisan Bo Nordh, and this iteration is no exception. The shape is usually carved to include a wrapping panel that flows from one flank of the rim to the other, wrapping around the heel and framing the Shield-like fore and aft portions of the bowl. Here, the panel has been substituted for a single ridgeline, though it serves the same function. The shape's pronounced heel has been flattened here, serving as a sure-sitting foot that works in concert with the flaring shank and stem base to allow stable resting on a flattened surface, the weight shared by both briar and acrylic. Said acrylic comes in the form of a demurely curved saddle stem that allows for comfortable smoking, its dark hues complimented by the black rustication dressing the stummel, the pipe's undulating rim left smooth and lightly stained for contrast.-John McElheny
