Ardor: Vulcani Bent Dublin Tobacco Pipe
Product Number: 002-004-3628
With a storied history dating back to 1911, the Ardor marque is a long-standing family business that is still owned and operated by the descendants of the original founder. After his father founded Sociedade Rovera in Varese, Italy, young Angelo Rovera knew he wanted to carry on the family's legacy within the pipe industry. With the help of his son, Angelo established Ardor in 1974, and worked to maintain the high level of craftsmanship and quality products he'd been brought up with. After Angelo's passing over 20 years later in 1999, his grandsons, Damiano and Dimitri, took over the business and still run it today.
Featuring an almost Horn-like silhouette, this bent Dublin from Ardor is a unique take on the shape-chart standard. Sweeping from button to bowl, the momentum of this pipe is drawn to the fore, where the bowl's walls flare from a lifted heel toward a domed rim. The transition lends ample room to wrap the thumb as it rises to an acrylic multicolored stem. This pipe is dressed in the striking Vulcani finish, treating the briar with a highly textural carving and warm stain, with pocked indentions scattered throughout that immediately call to mind the cratered surface of the moon, save for the smooth rim.
