Ashton: Pebble Grain Liverpool with Silver (XXX)
Product Number: 002-006-1739
The presence of a fairly broad silver band makes the shank of this briar appear shorter, and therefore rather like a Billiard (which I thought it was at first glance). As far as the relative proportions of everything goes, bowl to shank to stem and all that, it reminds me more of what is typical of Lovats, which tend to be the shortest and handiest of the long-shanked family of shapes - especially given how many Liverpools are being made by artisans these days accentuating length and slenderness of style. The long and short of it: pretty charming, and though compact in its look, the bowl it offers up is hardly small.
