Ashton: Claret Achievement Bent Dublin with Antler Army Mount (XX)

Product Number: 002-006-2519

Marked by a gorgeous, ruby-stained sandblast, the Claret finish is one of Ashton's most colorful, presenting a classic English aesthetic that was made famous by Dunhill's older Redbark coloration. It only makes sense, then, that Bill Ashton-Taylor would have his own take on the vibrant presentation, having worked for Dunhill until the early 1980s. Unlike Dunhill Redbarks, though, Ashton Clarets are still produced and readily available thanks to Jimmy Craig who now fashions Ashtons, faithfully continuing the marque's English tradition of expertly crafted briars. This particular one offers a slender take on the bent Dublin, the tall, neatly flaring bowl featuring a gently tapered rim and fitted on the end of quite the angular transition, with an extended, demi-Churchwarden shank and stem configuration out back. It makes for a lightweight, well-balanced smoker overall, despite the added length and extended chamber depth.

It's offered here as part of the esteemed Achievement series — a line that Jimmy typically reserves for pipes showcasing alternate accent materials or unique shaping cues. Here, the Claret finish is paired to an army mount of genuine antler, the scarlet stain contrasted smartly by the off-white tones and rustic grain pattern of the antler.
