While the Rhodesian, much like its cousin the bent Bulldog, can be at times quite muscular in form, here Ashton takes a far more elegant approach, pairing the petite, rather squat bowl with the long, arcing curve of the round shank and saddle stem — creating a noticeable slimming effect in profile. This rendition forgoes the form's characteristic beadlines, placing a subtle ridgeline underneath the high-set, softly tapered rim and sits just above the brief transition. Size-wise, it's around a Group 1 or 2, but the sandblasted finish offers plenty of crisp texture for the fingers to enjoy. Perfect for fans of English briars and compact, easily pocketable pipes.
