Ashton: Claret Bent Dublin with Antler Army Mount (XX)
Product Number: 002-006-2730
Defined by a ruby stain and crisp sandblast, Ashton's Claret finish presents one of the English marque's most colorful palettes, alongside the iconic stems of their Brindle series. It's a finish that hints at Dunhill's older Redbark sandblast, thanks in no small part to Bill Ashton-Taylor's involvement with Dunhill before starting the Ashton company. The classic tradition of the English marque is now continued by the faithful and expert craftsmanship of Jimmy Craig.
The gorgeous, scarlet hue here adorns a striking, angular take on the bent Dublin — almost Acorn-like in slender flare and protruding heel. The bowl rises into a neatly tapered rim, while out it back flows into an elongated stretch of shank and stem in demi-Churchwarden configuration. Though longer than the standard fare, it remains a lightweight companion, well-suited to relaxing smokes yet still comfortably clenched.-Truett Smith
