Ashton: Sovereign Cherrywood (XXX) Tobacco Pipe

When I think of a Cherrywood, I normally envisage the bowl canted forward, but this rendition by Jimmy Craig of Ashton defies that expectation, with a proud, vertical bowl paired to a comparatively low-lying shank and stem combination. It wears a lighter smooth Sovereign finish, a glossy surface that feels good in hand and allows the briar's natural beauty to supply all of the visual delight. A reserved, jet black vulcanite saddle stem bends down gracefully out back for a comfortable smoking posture, executing its mission admirably without distracting from the handsome stummel.
