Ashton: Sovereign Poker with Silver (XXX) Tobacco Pipe

Product Number: 002-006-3248

Ashton's Poker designs are always interesting, and this particular interpretation is one of my personal favorites from Jimmy Craig, as it pairs a trim, very slightly angled shank to a tall, softly flaring bowl. The aft of said bowl is more steeply slanted than the fore, and the severe transition makes for a composition that implies momentum throughout the travel from the shank onward. This pipe is dressed in Ashton's sovereign finish, though it's been executed here in a way I've never seen before, as it's been imagined here as a contrast stain. This unique application not only imbues the piece with a unique palette, but thrusts the dense structure of swirling flame grain striations which wrap the bowl into prominence. The stummel's light mahogany and dark chestnut hues are contrasted strikingly by a broad band of silver that wraps around the shank end, with further contrast offered by the brindled stem of black and jade tones.
