Ashton: Pebble Grain Cutty (XX) Tobacco Pipe
Product Number: 002-006-3277
The Cutty is not often seen in Ashton's portfolio, in fact, this and the other one in this update are roughly the third or so we've encountered in more than 10 years. The shape is a holdover from the old clay pipes of the 16th and 17th centuries, and the English workshop has fashioned this one with its usual aplomb. The tall, fairly slender bowl is forward ebbing and forgoes the spur, opting instead for a firm heel. Paired to a lithe, gently rising shank and elegantly downturned stem, this piece is dressed in the dark ruby tones of the Pebble Grain finish for a delightfully traditional aesthetic.-Angela Robertson
