Ashton is known for classic, muscular English designs, often writ large, and this paneled Billiard is an unforgettable rendition of just that. Jimmy Craig is the man who makes Ashton pipes, and here he gives us a tall, square bowl with the edges mitered to turn it into an octagon when seen from above. The flattened heel and substantial weight allow it to sit sturdily despite having a shank and stem that stretch the overall length past seven inches. Thick insulating walls protect the massive chamber, keeping the pipe comfortable to hold even during long smoking sessions, and a ruby-stained Pebble Grain sandblast accentuates dense cross grain patterns all around. A hand-cut vulcanite stem tops everything off, curling downward with an elegant taper to posture the pipe for a comfortable smoking position.
