Ashton: Sovereign Bent Dublin with Silver Band and Cap (XXX) Tobacco Pipe
Product Number: 002-006-3382
Jimmy Craig of Ashton showcases his exceptional silverwork with this classically shaped bent Dublin. A sterling silver cap across the flared rim and a matching accent band at the shank end elevate the already rich palette of this design, and beyond pure aesthetics and flash, the cap also protects the rim from charring. Shape-wise, this piece boasts a stout bowl with a gradual taper to the heel, an upturned shank, and an arcing tapered stem. While the English workshop is known for their expert sandblasts, their smooth finishes are just as handsome and eye-catching, as the stummel of this piece can attest. The Sovereign smooth finish commends the briar here, and the light, warm stain and silky polish accentuate the fine strands of flame grain that climb the flanks of the bowl. A vibrant green- and olive-hued vulcanite stem tops off the design and adds a dose of stylish color to the overall composition for further visual appeal.--Davin Hylton
