Ashton: Pebble Grain Belge with Silver (XX) Tobacco Pipe
Product Number: 002-006-3513
The Belge is relatively uncommon within Ashton's portfolio, a factor that makes this offering from the English workshop quite alluring. The shape is a holdover from the old clay pipes of the 16th and 17th centuries, and it has been fashioned here with Ashton's usual skill and focus on classic design. The tall, fairly slender bowl is forward ebbing rests atop a sweeping heel, canting forward gracefully and adding a good deal of gesture to this piece. Paired to a lithe, gently rising shank and elegantly downturned stem, this pipe is dressed in the dark ruby tones of the Pebble Grain sandblast for a delightfully traditional aesthetic, with a silver band at the junction for added elegance and contrast.
