Ashton: Old Church Achievement Don (XX) Tobacco Pipe
Product Number: 002-006-3544
Bill Taylor founded Ashton pipes in the early 1980s after a successful career at Dunhill, and this Achievement pipe hearkens back to the "45" from his alma mater, a shape also known as a Don. Since Taylor's passing, Jimmy Craig carries on the Ashton tradition of fine handmade pipes, and this XX-sized Poker is an excellent example. The tall bowl is slightly forward-surging due to a canted, flat heel and is wearing a crisp, tanblasted finish to accentuate the briar's natural beauty. The transition is elevated and the shank abbreviated, quickly reaching a jet-black mount that supports a lengthy, lithe stretch of tapered vulcanite that turns downward gently. Equally comfortable resting in your hand or resting on a desk, this is a highly functional smoker with some old English style, a piece of living history that is sure to become a revered member in any collector's rotation.
