Ashton is a workshop with a penchant for traditional English designs, and this hearty Poker offers the shape in unabashed proportions. Sized as an ELX, this pipe occupies the upper range of the workshop's offerings size-wise, and with an overall length well past six inches and a height of over two, it promises a long, leisurely smoke. Jimmy Craig continues to carry the reputation of Ashton quality well, dressing this iteration in the handsome tanblast and lighter tones of the Old Church series, a choice that complements well the textural birdseye on both flanks of the bowl. A sleek shank is paired, arrow straight, with a tapered stem of brindled vulcanite, though it keeps the distal end light to help the pipe sit well. A silver band adds a distinct note of elegance and ties the combination together with striking visual appeal.
