Muscular and languid, this Rhodesian from Ashton finds a tall, forward-canted bowl set to a fluidly bent shank-and-stem arrangement. A crisp ridgeline wraps around the top of the bowl, demarcating the tapered rim from the heel's upward flare and providing a bit of firmness to the shape's otherwise gestural silhouette. The ruby-hued Claret sandblast dresses the stummel and brings vivid definition to the natural grain orientation of the briar, providing a wealth of tactile and visual detail to the composition. A sterling silver band adorns the junction and ties the entire design together with a dose of flash, its gleaming hues naturally leading the eye to the brindled vulcanite stem.
