A commanding straight Billiard by Jimmy Craig of Ashton pipes, this ELX-sized piece is a hearty design that boasts kingly dimensions, especially around the bowl. The traditional Billiard design is rendered with faithful precision, as I expect from the English workshop, but with a bowl that is as a bit oversized even for the lengthy, seven-inch-long profile. It offers a wealth of briar to protect its massive tobacco chamber, and is presented in the Sovereign smooth finish, which lets the briar's grain do all the talking. A tapered, jet-black vulcanite stem shows off Jimmy's precise shaping around the button and provides excellent contrast against the lighter stummel, while a broad silver band crowns the shank end with elegance.
