A striking take on the Rhodesian shape, this piece from Ashton features a tall, forward-canted bowl that stands at the fore of a steeply curved shank-and-stem arrangement. A pair of beadlines delineates the heel's upward flare from the rim's steady taper, while accentuating the bowl's broad waistline. The shank and stem's languid curvature ensures a comfortable smoking posture and adds a good bit of gesture to the overall form. The warm Sovereign smooth finish dresses the stummel and highlights an impressive showing of grain along the flanks of the bowl, its blonde hues complemented by a saddle stem of tangerine-hued acrylic. A sterling silver accent adorns the junction and ties the entire composition together with a dose of flash.
