Ashton: Old Church Paneled Prince with Silver (X) Tobacco Pipe
Product Number: 002-006-3714
Bill Ashton-Taylor got his start making pipes for Dunhill, but after mastering the craft, realized he needed to set out on his own, so he founded the British marque Ashton. Sadly, Bill passed away in 2009, but pipe maker Jimmy Craig proudly carries on the Ashton name. This paneled Prince by Jimmy Craig of Ashton possesses a lithe shank-and-stem arrangement, with an abbreviated shank meeting a lengthy, downturned stem at a glittering silver band. The bowl is much firmer in comparison, its hexagonal panels lending it crisp geometry and the Old Church sandblast creating a rugged surface. Moreover, the pipe's dressing offers contrast as well, with the stummel's warm terracotta stain juxtaposed with the cool-hued pattern on the stem. This firm yet supple pipe is a unique reinterpretation of the Prince shape that will catch anyone's eye.
