A muscular yet sinuous interpretation of the bent Bulldog from Ashton, this piece features the traditional shaping, handsome finishing, and colorful stem work that's part of the English workshop's design aesthetic. The high-set beadlines emphasize the stocky contours of the lower bowl, with the crisp lines of the diamond shank extending through the saddle stem's arcing bend. It's dressed in a dark, ruby-tinged sandblast that does well to showcase ripples of ring grain across the bowl, and it's topped by a cumberland mouthpiece, which adds a pop of color to the overall form.
