Ashton: Ebony Billiard (XX) Tobacco Pipe

While other dark-finished Ashton pipes range from very dark auburn to black with a noticeable red undertone, the Ebony as the name would imply is something more solidly dark: jet black, basically, with only the slightest hint of an undertone showing up here or there. This one comes in a straight Billiard shape, though curiously a straight Billiard that suggests to me a little bit of a Danish direction in shaping; the transition and shank are quite slim relative to the bowl, and the waistline of said bowl is positioned lower than is typical of English Billiards.
