Ashton's renditions of the Cherrywood shape can vary quite a bit across iterations, but stay true to the practical nature of the profile without being spartan, as evidenced by this example. Dressed in the crisp sandblast of the Claret series, this pipe showcases some handsome grain beneath its deep, crimson stain, the surface of the briar lending the fingers plenty of tactile intrigue and staying true to the nature of the form. While typical Cherrywoods are often canted of bowl, this rendition presents the shape as upright of posture, though it maintains a flat, sure-sitting heel, with the shank-and-stem arrangement nicely bent for a comfortable smoking posture. A sterling silver military mount adorns the junction and provides a dose of vibrancy and utility to the composition.
