Ashton: Claret Acorn (XX) Tobacco Pipe
Product Number: 002-006-4001
Bill Ashton-Taylor got his start making pipes for Dunhill, but after mastering the craft, realized he needed to set out on his own, so he founded the British marque Ashton. Sadly, Bill passed away in 2009, but pipe maker Jimmy Craig proudly carries on the Ashton name. This Acorn by Ashton possesses a towering bowl, its supple walls flaring from the plump heel to a high-set waistline before gently tapering to the broad rim. Out back, the rounded shank sweeps upward from the transition, ascending to a well-bent saddle stem, that gives this shape a particularly sinuous posture. Additionally, the stummel is dressed in the Claret sandblast, highlighting a wealth of tactile texture for one to appreciate beneath its vibrant stain.
