Ashton: Brindle Bulldog (XXX) Tobacco Pipe

Headed by Jimmy Craig, English workshop Ashton primarily crafts pipes of a timeless, classical style, often elevated by stems of signature brindled vulcanite and fitments of elegant silver. A stout Bulldog possessed of a muscular and rustic character, this piece presented is true to the shape-chart archetype. The sharply angled stem of vibrantly brindled black and yellow vulcanite enhances the reach of the shank, making for a consistently tapering, aerodynamic pairing that nicely balances the presence of the bowl. Two of the four ridges that frame the shank and stem continue through the stummel and into the bowl, lifting at the flanks and curling down toward the heel below the beadlines that delineate the dual taper of the bowl's walls: adding further to the muscularity of the piece. The pipe is finished with Ashton's darkly-stained Brindle sandblast, revealing a wealth of handsome texture and rippling growth rings across the stummel.
