Ashton: Brindle Apple (XX) Tobacco Pipe
Product Number: 002-006-4107
Headed by Jimmy Craig, English workshop Ashton primarily crafts pipes of a timeless, classical style, often elevated by stems of signature brindled vulcanite and fitments of elegant silver. This Apple is a good example of the chart-standard archetype, and it's one rendered in slightly stouter proportions compared to other Apples from Ashton. More than six inches long, this pipe boasts a fairly lengthy shank and stem combination, with the shank reaching out of a wide transition and taking on a subtle taper toward a more swiftly tapering stem of green and black vulcanite. Up front, the bowl stands on a rounded heel, growing into a low-set waist that gives way to walls that make a softly arcing taper to the rim. Dressed in the crisp, earthy sandblast of the Brindle series, this pipe showcases handsome grain and rich texture, its iconic style of stem offering lovely contrast.
