Ashton: Old Church Rhodesian with Silver (XX) Tobacco Pipe

Headed by Jimmy Craig, English workshop Ashton primarily crafts pipes of a timeless, classical style, often elevated by stems of signature brindled vulcanite and fitments of elegant silver. This Rhodesian is a smartly curved example of the classic shape, its shank and stem lifting out of a transition wide enough to drape a digit. Said shank is a short, trim, cylindrical stretch of briar that lifts to meet a domed silver military mount: pairing this pipe to a sleekly tapering stem of demurely curved black vulcanite. Sleek, balanced, and practical, this shank and stem do well to balance the bowl, this bowl sitting atop a sweeping heel and taking on a plump shape at the fore. Said bowl flares out toward a high-set waist marked with dual beadlines, followed by a swift taper toward a flat rim, its entire build possessed of a broad, muscular character. Dressed in the crisp tanblast of the Old Church series, this pipe showcases lovely grain and ample texture, richly contrasted by the silver mount.
