Ashton: Oak Dublin with Silver (LX) Tobacco Pipe
Product Number: 002-006-4189
At 15, William (Bill) Ashton-Taylor began his pipe-making career by signing under Alfred Dunhill. Starting as an intern and affiliated 'tea boy,' Bill retained a keen interest in the craft. Eventually, this sparked the attention of Harry Saigrott who began showing Bill the artistry of pipe making. By 1980, Bill founded Ashton Company, setting a high standard for quality pipe making. Sadly, Bill passed away in 2009, but pipe maker Jimmy Craig proudly carries on the Ashton name. Stamped "LX" to denote its large size, this Dublin for Ashton is one of the largest from the English marque, measuring over seven inches in length and boasting a chamber depth of over two inches in depth. Shape-wise, this piece is traditionally inclined, with a flaring bowl at the fore of an arrow-straight stank-and-stem arrangement. Dressing the stummel is Ashton's smoky Oak smooth finish, which highlights stunning grain throughout. The mouthpiece is made of cumberland, its reddish hues pairing well with the smoky color up front. A silver accent adorns the junction and adds a touch of flash to the color palette.
