Ashton: Sovereign Bulldog (XX) Tobacco Pipe

William Ashton-Taylor, the founder of the Ashton brand, began his pipe-making studies at a mere fifteen years of age as an assistant in Dunhill's workshop. He demonstrated great interest in and talent for the craft, which led him to move up through the ranks before he eventually left to start his own company in 1983. This particular iteration of the traditional shape from the English marque is a classic interpretation, offering a majestic silhouette. The bottom line of the shank's diamond shape guides the eye into the base of the bowl, where it comes to an uplifted heel. From said heel, the bowl flares with a steep curve before reaching a double beadline, after which there is an inward taper toward the thin rim. The four lines of the shank's diamond cross section continue into the tapered, brindled stem. A light stain like caramel dresses the smooth-finished stummel.
