Ashton: Pebble Grain Brandy (XX) Tobacco Pipe
Product Number: 002-006-4272
At 15, William (Bill) Ashton-Taylor began his pipe-making career by signing under Alfred Dunhill. Starting as an intern, Bill retained a keen interest in the craft. Eventually, this sparked the attention of Harry Saigrott, who began showing Bill the artistry of pipe making. By 1980, Bill founded Ashton Company, setting a high standard for quality pipe making. Bill passed away in 2009, but pipe maker Jimmy Craig proudly carries on the Ashton name. A handsome showcase of the marque's Anglo-French profiles, this Brandy possesses the classic shape'seasy-going taper to the rim, although this specific piece features a bit more plumpness around its heel. An arrow-straight shank and stem follow the bowl, giving way to a tapered stem of black vulcanite. Dressing the stummel is Ashston's Pebble Grain sandblast, highlighting handsome grain and giving this piece an overall earthy aesthetic.
