Chris Askwith really excels at taking classical, shape chart standard designs and transforming them into something that's both novel and playful. He'll take a timeless, well-recognized form, for example, and scale it down a Group size or two, throw in a few more curves here, some firmer lines there, and finish it off in a rather bold, eccentric color palette for good measure. This extroverted classical style is on display here in as charmingly compact Billiard design — coming in at just over 25 grams in overall weight, and a hair over four and a half inches in length. And though it may not be the most common combination among pipe makers, the natural/light contrast stain and shimmering lavender-colored acrylic mouthpiece just work together beautifully.
