Askwith: Smooth Lovat Tobacco Pipe

Shape wise, this Lovat is likely the most conservative, classical rendition in this batch of pipes from Chris Askwith. The balance between the proportions of the bowl, shank, and short-throw saddle stem is simply spot-on for a textbook classic interpretation of the design, and its solid Group 3 or 4 proportions keep it soundly in that familiar, medium-sized pipe category. What makes this particular interpretation so unique then? Well, Chris's expert engineering and craftsmanship have a lot to do with it, of course, but it's also dressed in a rather eccentric color palette: a deep walnut contrast stain for the stummel paired to a rich, deep, navy blue acrylic mouthpiece. Suffice to say, if you're looking for a familiar, classical design finished in a bolder style, this is not one to miss.
