Askwith: Rusticated Canadian

Product Number: 002-499-0238

A muscular Canadian shape, this fellow is decidedly classical, especially for the characteristically whimsical work of Chris Askwith. It almost appears to be a substantial Liverpool in profile, though closer inspection reveals a sense of compression to the shank along the X-axis, serving to throw focus to the visual weight of the bowl. It's dressed here in a warm, attractive rustication, offering a woodsy, pastoral sort of style, while a jet-black stem emphasizes the shape's traditional foundation. Lovely work from the English carver.
