Askwith: Sandblasted Morta Rhodesian Tobacco Pipe

We've seen a similar style of Rhodesian from Chris Askwith before, also replete with a modernist color palette and fashioned from dense morta. This particular rendition, though, is a clear homage to Comoy's iconic "283" design. Like all Rhodesians, the "283" features a round shank paired to a beadlined, Bulldog bowl; however, what makes Comoy's design markedly special is the added mass to the shank and transition, forcing the beadlines to be higher set and making for a more drastic rim taper. Chris has fashioned this interpretation perfectly but imbued it with his own sense of modern style — Comoy's never would have rendered one from sandblasted morta, and the dandelion-swirled acrylic stem is a colorful touch that's signature Askwith.
