Askwith: Sandblasted Morta Paneled Poker with Horn Stem Tobacco Pipe
Product Number: 002-499-0270
While we've previously seen Chris Askwith use horn as an accenting material, this offering marks the first time we've received a pipe from the English carver that features a stem crafted from the organic material. The creamy tones of the tapered horn mouthpiece stand out in stark contrast against the stummel's jet-black color. Shape-wise, Chris has taken an architectural approach to the timeless Poker design as a series of six panels line the towering, deep chambered bowl. Said bowl has been crafted from morta and treated to a well-executed sandblast that has brought out a captivating display of tight, uniform grain patterns across each facet. The firm lines of the panels offer a sturdy feel in hand and when paired to the crisp texture of the sandblasted finish, you have a pipe that's quite difficult to put down. But should you feel the need to place it down for a spell, you can rest assured it will sit stably on flat surfaces. Overall, it's quite the charming design from Chris that showcases his skillful line work and tasteful use of alternative materials.
