Askwith: Sandblasted Dublin with Horn Stem Tobacco Pipe
Product Number: 002-499-0271
A companion piece of sorts to another Dublin we previously received from Chris Askwith, this example is an excellent rendition of the timeless form. This particular offering is a tad longer than the aforementioned piece and notably marks just the second time we've seen an Askwith pipe with a stem crafted from genuine horn. It's also one of the darkest pieces of the organic material I've ever seen as the stem is nearly black with small traces of light color visible along the right side and underside of the mouthpiece. It's made even more visually striking when paired to the tanblasted stummel as it provides some tasteful contrast to the bowl's warm tones. The sandblast is very light depth in its execution, offering some wonderful texture to enjoy in hand while also preserving the clean lines of the shape. The bowl's rounded base gradually flares up towards the crisp-lined rim that's been chamfered for a subtle, artistic accenting touch. It's a rather traditionally inclined take on the shape chart standard that highlights Askwith's skill when it comes to delivering exquisite renditions of time-honored forms.
