Askwith: Sandblasted Morta Dublin Tobacco Pipe
Product Number: 002-499-0410
Chris Askwith is known for contemporizing classic shapes with his own creative touches, often utilizing alternative materials, polyester mouthpieces, and lively color palettes. All of those conventions can be seen in this straight Dublin, which has been fashioned from dark, sandblasted morta, the semi-petrified bog oak giving the pipe its light weight and mesmerizing grain patterns. Shape-wise, the tall, robust bowl displays a pronounced flare at its broad, dome-like rim, which is separated by the lower bowl by a demarcating ridgeline. A firm heel and tucked transition lead to a stout, rounded shank, which is then topped by a quite colorful saddle stem of vibrant orange and black hues, pairing well with the stummel's dark tone.
